Everything you need to know about getting around Miami aboard free public transit
When it comes to planning your next event in Miami, it may be in your best interest to take advantage of the extensive network of free transportation options connecting nearly every corner of the city. Your group can take in the sights aboard free trolleys and enjoy an elevated view while shuttling across Miami’s skyline aboard downtown’s free Metromover trains. Here are the ins and outs of Miami’s complimentary transportation options.
City of Miami Trolley
The City of Miami is connected with a wide variety of free trolley routes connecting popular areas along Biscayne Bay, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Way, Historic Overtown, Downtown Miami and Wynwood. The air-conditioned trolleys are free and run from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. for most locations, but hours vary depending on the route and the day. Sometimes the City of Miami expands the schedule for Miami HEAT games, Art Basel and other special events.
Miami Beach Trolley
With multiple free routes to choose from, traveling around South Beach via free trolley is easier than ever. There are currently four routes, including the South Beach Loop, Collins Express, Middle Beach Loop and North Beach Loop. The routes are designed to connect the entire beach and you can hop on and off to visit all of your favorite destinations along the way. The free service runs every 15 to 40 minutes, seven days a week until midnight.

Coral Gables Trolley
The free Coral Gables trolley service runs every 15 minutes Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Gallery Nights, the first Friday of the month, until 10 p.m. You can also connect to the Coral Gables trolley from the City of Miami trolley routes. Miami Gardens Trolley
The City of Miami Gardens offers free trolley routes with stops at Hard Rock Stadium, St. Thomas University, Miami Gardens City Hall, amongst other locations. The trolley runs daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Doral Trolley
For travelers visiting Doral, one of Miami's neighborhoods on the west side near the airport, you’ll find a free trolley with three different routes. The City of Doral trolley service runs on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. with a modified schedule on weekends. The Doral Trolley Tracker app is a great way to track trolleys and find the latest schedules.
Metromover
In addition to Miami’s extensive free trolley service, visitors can also traverse downtown on the free elevated Metromover train. It runs on three loops including the Omni Loop, Brickell Loop and Inner Loop. There’s also a Full Loop that runs the entire length of the track. Metromover is ideal for visitors attending events in the Downtown Miami area who want to explore some of the city’s most popular attractions like the American Airlines Arena, home to the Miami Heat and popular concerts. There’s also Maurice A. Ferré Park where you’ll find Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and nearby the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is located. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants to explore along the Metromover route.
